Veterinary Cancer Care is a privately owned, integrative veterinary oncology practice in Santa Fe, New Mexico, providing compassionate, individualized cancer care for pets and the families who love them. Founded in 2004 by Dr. Jeannette M. Kelly, the only board-certified veterinary oncologist in Santa Fe, the practice was built on a simple belief: every family deserves accessible and expert veterinary oncology care close to home.
How We Got Here
our story
In 2004, pet owners in Santa Fe and northern New Mexico had limited options when their pets were diagnosed with cancer. Specialized oncology care meant long drives, unfamiliar clinics, and the stress of being far from home during an already difficult time.
Dr. Jeannette M. Kelly saw an opportunity to change that. After graduating from Colorado State University and completing a rigorous residency in veterinary oncology, she became board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Oncology) in 2009. She opened Veterinary Cancer Care with a mission to bring that expertise to the pets and families of New Mexico.
What started as a small specialty practice has grown into a trusted resource for families throughout the Southwest. Today, we see patients from Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Taos, Las Cruces, and beyond, as well as from Texas, Arizona, Colorado, and California. But no matter how much we’ve grown, our focus remains the same: providing expert, compassionate care to every pet who comes through our doors.

Dr. Kelly practices integrative veterinary oncology, combining the most advanced conventional treatments with holistic therapies that support your pet’s overall well-being. With access to genomic profiling, she can identify targeted therapies matched to your pet’s specific cancer cells. Treatment might also include pairing chemotherapy with nutritional supplements or using immunotherapy alongside herbal support. Every protocol is designed around your pet’s unique needs, not a one-size-fits-all formula.

We provide phone support 12 hours a day, five days a week, plus weekends and holidays. When you call with a question, you get an answer. When you need an appointment, we work to get you in quickly. For urgent cases, same-day appointments are often available.
